Family Therapist at Jönköping Municipality

Your New Job

As a family therapist, you will work with children and youth aged 0-20 years and their families. The focus is on providing support, protection, and treatment for children and youth to grow up safely within their families. The foundation of all work within the Child and Youth Open Care is a systems theory approach, aimed at working with the individual, the family, and the entire network.

As a family therapist, you will work to leverage resources within the individual, family, and their network to develop protective factors and reduce risk factors in the child's/youth's upbringing environment. You will work individually or together with a colleague to lead the change process in the family based on the assignment formulated by the Child and Youth Investigation Unit.

The assignments may include treatment to understand and meet the needs of children and youth, practical and pedagogical guidance in the parental role, change work in family relationships and interactions, crisis conversations, etc. In your role as a family therapist, you will have many internal and external contacts such as social workers, schools, and healthcare providers.

Some of the methods we use include MI, the Safety Circle, and Functional Family Therapy (FFT).

Your Qualifications

The position requires a college or university education of at least 180 higher education credits, which means a bachelor's degree or equivalent such as:

• social worker
• social pedagogue (only college educated with 180 credits approved)
• behavioral scientist
• other approved and completed three-year college or university degree of at least 180 credits that the employer assesses as equivalent education

We prefer that you have experience in treatment work with children/youth, experience in dealing with problematic school attendance, domestic violence, substance abuse, as well as experience with some of the methods used.

To be successful as a family therapist with us, you should be engaged, persistent, and curious about people. Furthermore, you should be secure in yourself and in your professional role. You should be able to meet people in need of social services support in a clear and trustworthy manner.

We will place great emphasis on the following:

• You work well with complex issues involving many stakeholders and have good collaboration skills
• You are goal- and result-oriented and take initiative to enable changes in the treatment process
• You have good empathetic abilities, are structured, and can document your work.

Good knowledge of the Swedish language is required, both in reading comprehension, listening comprehension, writing, and speaking, and you have good computer skills.

A driving license (B) is a requirement for the position.

The goal of the operation is that vulnerable children and youth aged 0-21 years should receive the support and protection they are entitled to. We work with assessed assistance measures, and the goal is for children and youth to feel safe and develop in their families of origin or equivalent.

The Open Care has two workgroups of approximately 20 therapists each, two coordinators, and two unit managers. The unit also includes a newly started MST team. We are a workgroup striving for an even distribution regarding both age and gender. You will join a workgroup with good competence, curiosity, flexibility, and a very good work climate.

Good to Know

The recruitment refers to a permanent position, full-time, with a start date according to agreement. We work during the day, but some work outside office hours may occur.

We use ongoing selection. A probationary period may be applied.

In your application, we want a CV along with attached degree certificate and current employment certificates. All your employment must be verifiable with certificates stating the position and the extent of your work. Even if you already work with us, you need to present degree certificates and employment certificates for positions you have held outside the municipality. Applications that do not meet this will not be prioritized.

At the employment interview, an extract must be provided from the National Police Board's criminal and suspicion register according to the provisions of the law (2007:171) on register control at such homes for care or accommodation that receive children. Order this in good time and bring it to the interview.
